Update: The official Google IO 2016 dates have been announced to be May 18 - May 20, which means this year's Google IO tickets should go on sale soon. It's been a big 12 months for Google: Android 6.0 Marshmallow released, it made developments in self-driving car tech, and, perhaps most significant of all, it shuffled its corporate structure so it's now owned by a company called Alphabet. Google IO 2016 will likely be a huge event with lots of news, just like Google IO 2015 and 2014 before it. In fact, the pressure of Microsoft's recent push of great new products and Apple's ever-growing popularity are likely to cause Google to go even further than it has in the past and come up with better products that can appeal to a wider range of people. By the time Android N is released, many users will still be waiting for Android Marshmallow to make it to their devices, but that certainly won't slow Google from releasing its newest version of Android. Android for smartphone won't be the only branch of Android to see an update at Google IO 2016. A number of updates have been released to Android Wear over the past year, not least of which was iOS compatibility It's certainly possible that Android Wear will also be made compatible with Windows Phone, which would be a great announcement for Google to make at its developer conference. Google is likely to make a number of car-related announcements, including at least one related to Android Auto. Since Google IO 2015, a number of automakers have jumped onboard with Android Auto, either offering the infotainment system in current models or planning to include it in future vehicles. We wouldn't be surprised if major car makers who haven't announced Android Auto compatibility use Google IO 2016 to do so. Google will also likely announce more third-party apps that will make it to the platform, as well as similar voice control updates as we will (probably) see with Android Wear. After coming out of the gate hot and fast, things have slowed for Project Ara over the past six months or so. We're optimistic about Google's modular phone, though, and think IO 2016 is prime time for Google to break the silence on the project. Self-driving cars will almost certainly make an appearance at Google IO 2016, with the company first likely to give a report on the development of the little koala car's software as well as address safety concerns (even though stats show every self-driving car accident has been the fault of human drivers ). Google mentioned in September that it, as a company, didn't actually want to manufacture physical cars to sell to customers, so it's also possible that we could see Google announce partnerships with major auto companies who might want to use Google's technology. With self-driving car tech on the rise, however, it's very unlikely that we won't see a Google Car appearance at IO. It's very likely that we'll see Google update cross-compatibility features, such as enabling users to access files and information on their mobile devices through Chrome. There have long been rumors that Google is planning on more closely integrating Chrome with Android, so keep an eye out for an announcement along those lines at IO. The company has already begun planting seeds for a successful smart home platform with products like OnHub , a wireless router. With Apple having gotten a head start in the smart home space and Google really only having made a few, minor announcements related to the smart home at IO 2015, we expect it to put a much stronger focus on intelligent appliances and the like at IO 2016. Google Cardboard is a nifty product that brings virtual reality to many who might not want to drop a lot of money on a dedicated virtual reality headset, like the Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR. We don't expect Google to deviate from its DIY virtual reality headset, but we do anticipiate Google will reveal a few upgrades to make it even better. YouTube engineering chief Matthew Mengerink told CNET that Google plans on upping the quality of VR videos on YouTube in the near future, and we should see the fruits of this initiative at the developer conference. Facebook-owned Oculus is expected to release the first consumer version of the Oculus Rift in the first quarter of 2016. And if Google succeeds in fixing the mistakes it made with the last version of Android , we're likely to see better tablets and hybrid tablets running Android, as well. The most well-known one so far is the Project Ara smartphone that Google has been working on. When Google launches Project Ara sometimes in 2016, you'll be able to buy a basic phone and then upgrade components like the processor and camera. While they might be the most predictable gadgets to make our list, the next smartphones from some of our favorite tech companies are still devices we're excited to see in 2016. The move toward affordable and excellent mobile projectors is likely to continue in 2016. In 2015, we got used to the idea of the personal cloud: cloud storage on a device that you own, perfect for people who don't want to cede control of their files to a storage provider like Google or Dropbox. The tech product we may be the most excited to see in 2016 isn't a gadget at all. If you're constantly frustrated by how difficult it is for Siri to understand you or how few questions Google Now can actually answer, you're likely to appreciate the advances in voice recognition technology and artificial intelligence that the new year is expected to bring. Search engines, especially search engine giant Google, are adding new algorithms which is forcing companies to incorporate various elements to their content to ensure that their clients have the best online search experience 2016 will incorporate these algorithms, focusing on the future of SEO to ensure that customers always have the most enjoyable search experience. Articles will be longer and if you are looking at the best SEO service for 2016 then you are going to want to focus on detailed, informative and longer articles that will provide your clients with insight and the information that they are looking for. Google and other search engines will be looking for content that is relevant, up to date and provides customers with valuable insight. The company also announces major upcoming changes to apps and its cloud products. It will be interesting to see if Google reveals any major update to Chrome OS , which will supposedly bring some Android features. There will be a ton of new wearables at CES, but don't expect much from Pebble, Apple, or Google and its myriad of Android Wear devices, which usually prefer to announce their new products away from the hustle and bustle of CES. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings is also due to deliver the opening keynote at CES 2016 , so if that doesn't hint at the signs of what's coming up next, we don't know what will. With the release of the much-anticipated Oculus in Q1 2016 , the VR world is buzzing that 2016 is the year it becomes mainstream. At CES, you can expect to see a number of consumer grade 360-degree cameras, affordable viewers (like Google Cardboard) and further development of tools developers need to create rich virtual environments that make VR more accessible than ever. CES 2016 will also feature four conference sessions dedicated to drones, with discussions around security and safety risks and future opportunities for the hobbyist toys. The only thing left is to get consumers on board with some really cool products. Refrigerators that compile grocery lists and send them off to home delivery services, smartphones become whole-house control devices and thermostats that read” weather reports and adjust the temperature accordingly are just a few of the many products I'm excited to check out at CES. CES may be the biggest technology convention of the year, but it's unlikely for tech giants like Google or Apple to announce any major news during the event. Still, that doesn't mean teams from the likes of Google and Microsoft aren't roaming the floors scoping out the latest trends. Play-Fi is one of over a dozen proprietary streaming systems competing in the market, with Sonos being No. 1, and Bose's SoundTouch a distant No. 2. With the recent introduction of Google's Streamcast Audio and its ability to mimic most features of much higher-end products - multiroom, high-res, multiple app support - competition has never been tougher. Hi-fi manufacturer Rotel is known for its high-end hi-fi and home cinema products and enjoys a somewhat leisurely (as opposed to yearly) pace for releasing new products. The company has announced it is developing a Play-Fi-enabled speaker - probably its first speaker in at least 30 years - and audio components to be announced later in 2016. In addition Polk has announced the new Omni SB1 Plus sound bar with Bluetooth support and wireless rear speaker capability will be available in March 2016. In addition the Omni A1 Plus ($299) wireless amplifier will be available in April 2016. While many Play-Fi components support both Apple Airplay and Bluetooth they're not part of the standard, and devices with support for Google Cast, such as Raumfeld and Denon HEOS, pose a serious threat. In a blog post today, Google announced a slew of new partners for Android TV, and their models will be available later this year. For those in Indonesia, Google has also announced that Linknet already has an Android TV model available. Now on the Google Cast side of things, Google is announcing that it's coming to a slew of speakers, sound bars and A/V receivers as well. Google Cast works just like Chromecast, and is embedded directly into the speaker. Some of their partners for 2016 include B& Play, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Raumfeld. Now, Sony and LG had already put out some Google Cast speakers, and Sony refreshed their line of speakers last night at CES 2016, each and every one of Sony's new speakers have Google Cast (as well as Spotify Connect). Lots of new choices coming for Android TV as well as Google Cast, both are great technologies to be using in the living room. Google Cast recently got multi-room support, so you can control multiple speakers in your home all at once. Some smartphones are worth waiting for, and there are some stunners coming in 2016. Now that we know the phone unveiled by HTC in October was an HTC One A9, we're still expecting to see the HTC One M10 in March 2016. Although the LG G Flex 3 has not yet been officially confirmed by the company, we expect it to make an appearance in early 2016 - probably at CES 2016 - with a price tag a touch over £500. It's not yet been confirmed when the LG V10 will go on sale in the UK, although we hope it will be late 2015 rather than early 2016. Due to arrive February 2016 with a price tag of $399, the 'cloud-first' smartphone has a different approach to most other Android devices on the market. Early leaked specifications include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip that will feature heavily in 2016 flagships, offering improved performance and battery efficiency, plus support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 and Adreno 530 graphics. Samsung doesn't rest on its laurels too long, though, and in March 2016 at Mobile World Congress we will see the new Samsung Galaxy S7 on show - potentially alongside a new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. There's little in the way of leaked information on the phone but it does seem that Sony will stop its six-month refresh cycle meaning the Xperia Z6 will arrive around September 2016. Google is now hedging its bets with not only a new Nexus 5X but also a Nexus 6P - so, there is something for everyone. This new Google phone is the more capable of the two new Nexus phones, with a 5.7in Quad HD display, a metal unibody chassis, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2 processor, 3GB of RAM, a fingerprint scanner, a 12.3Mp rear camera and 8Mp at the front. Google told The Wall Street Journal that Sidewalk Labs is a separate Alphabet company. It's been rolled into Access and Energy, a Google division formed in 2014 You can hear Alphabet's CFO, Ruth Porat, mention this in the latest earnings report Access and Energy is also home to the Google OnHub router and the Titan Drones. Google recently announced it was condensing its cloud businesses into a single unit led by Diane Greene, co-founder and CEO of VMWare. Based on prior reports, we originally pegged Project Wing, Replicant, and Google Self-Driving Cars as Alphabet companies, but a Google X rep reached out to us and claimed ownership of all of them. Ron Amadeo / Ron is the Reviews Editor at Ars Technica, where he specializes in Android OS and Google products. Google 's much-awaited Project Tango will finally hit stores as a $500 Lenovo smartphone, the two companies announced at the CES in 2016 in Las Vegas. Google had earlier launched Project Tango Development Kits to help developers create apps to use this technology. Now, Lenovo has officially joined the Project Tango party and promised a launch by summer of 2016. Google also showcased the progress it has made with Project Tango, with product lead Johnny Lee showing how the device can be used to accurately measure space, the area, and even create and play 3D games like Jenga. Google has worked with other app developers, who have created these apps for Project Tango devices. Google says Project Tango devices have potential in scanning locations and products, gaming and other utilities, ultimately changing how mobile device are used. Google and Lenovo have also launched an app incubator program to help more developers build apps for Project Tango. The author is attending CES 2016 at the invitation of Lenovo India, which is paying for travel and accommodation. ASUS got off to great start providing a home base unit to allow users better access to ASUS products via Brillo. The user can connect to an assortment of ASUS products via Brillo and the app that ASUS provides. In a move to bring even more adoption of keyless locks, Kwikset quickly jumped on-board with Google Brillo products. This sets an interesting and new precedent for both Marvell and Google as one of the key problems between IoT frequencies and home interconnect is the lack of connection between them and Wi-Fi. Google Cast, the same technology built into Chromecast, is now embedded directly into speakers, sound bars, and A/V receivers so you can cast music from your favorite app on your phone or any music streaming website on Chrome. Throughout 2016, you'll be able to enjoy Google Cast speakers from B& Play, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer, and Raumfeld. Sony and LG , who were among the first to include Google Cast in their speakers, are also refreshing their speaker lineups. Cast-enabled software and hardware from Frontier Silicon and StreamUnlimited will make it easier for more audio companies to join the Google Cast family. In 2016, multi-room sync functionality will come to Google Cast speakers, allowing you to mix and match Cast-enabled speakers from your favorite brands with speakers connected to Chromecast Audio. To activate Night Light on your phone or tablet, update your Google Play Books app to the latest version through Google Play or the App Store Then open a book and turn on the Night Light mode option (you'll see a pop up in the app). That's why Google Fit 's latest update recognizes all your healthy choices: from cardio to strength training, what you eat plus how you rest, and coaches you every step of the way. Google Fit will record your speed, pace, route, elevation, and more so you can stay motivated and on track.
And with Google Fit, you'll always have a personal coach cheering you on, right from your phone. Filmmakers, producers, artists, and journalists are probably the type of people Google wants as testers. However, it seems as if what matters most to Google is not who you are, but why you want to test Jump and what you have in mind for it. Numerous companies aside from Google have designed smart eyewear, including Microsoft, XOEye and Epson, but wearables have not yet taken off as a must-have” consumer device that's more convenient than a smartphone or fashionable enough to warrant a routinely high price tag. Still, estimated worldwide sales of Google Glass units reportedly exceeded 800,000 last year. Google Products is obviously part of the Google enterprise, but from an SEO and Website point of view, it is essential that if you are selling any kind of products then you should get all of them listed on the Google Product system. The Google Base API is designed for skilled developers with technical know-how who would like to integrate their applications with Google Merchant Center, saving the user hours when it comes to manually producing feeds. Images - If there is one thing you simply have to do, it is to make sure that your feed and products have good images, without them your products will not sell and Google Products may well reject them from appearing in the searches. Images sell products; we all know that, so make sure you spend time taking good pictures or sourcing quality images of your products. Brand Names - Try to make sure you mention the brand name in your title and description when it comes to listing them on the Products system. Add as many products as you can and do not give up if the feed is rejected, keep mending it and working on the errors that the system reports. The Google Products forum is a great way to find out what you are doing wrong, as there are loads of people all willing to help you get the feed fixed and working. And the apps division is shifting to Greene, the revered software vet who joined Google in November to run its newly aligned enterprise operations. Yet many people in the industry have questioned Google's dedication to the platform, noting that the company has moved cautiously after its fumble with Google Glass. It's likely that Google's long-term bet on the computing platform is its investment in stealthy augmented reality firm Magic Leap (One person familiar with Google dubbed that investment FOMO” — or fear of missing Oculus.”) But that product is several years, if not a decade, from a consumer reality. Over the past year, Bavor, a precocious and well-liked exec inside Google, was spending more time with Cardboard despite his broader responsibilities, several Google people have said. A Google rep would not say how many people work on Cardboard or any other unannounced VR products. The former VMware CEO came to Google ( for a steep price ) after an extensive search. Asus built a smart-home bridge based on Brillo that should allow people using other Asus smart-home products to hook them up to an Android phone. The company doesn't plan to stop at just a hub, and plans to release more products this year. These microcontrollers can be used by other manufacturers of home appliances, wireless storage, thermostats such as Next, toys, and other connected products. Kwikset, a major smart lock company, also positioned itself to work with Google on a line of smart locks that will connect with Android-running phones. LG also will build Brillo and Weave into its products to help make their appliances less reliant on specific apps and phones for control. Yale Real Living products making their CES debut include the Assure Lock with Bluetooth, the Linus lock for the Nest home, and the Look Door Viewer. Yale Real Living products are being demonstrated at the Z-Wave Alliance, The Thread Group and the Samsung CES exhibits. In addition, Yale and Google are demonstrating a digital deadbolt that uses Google's Weave technology. Linus, a new lock developed through the Works with Nest program that works seamlessly with Nest products and is fully integrated with the Nest home, can be seen at The Thread Group, booth 70560 at the Sands Expo. Google is demonstrating a Yale deadbolt that is the first to use Weave, Google's common language for Brillo that allows Weave-enabled devices from different categories and brands to easily communicate with other connected devices. In the days just prior to CES, Yale was a sponsor of the 2016 AT&T Developer Summit here in support of AT&T Digital Life, a home security and home automation system. Updated on 08-21-2015 by Malarie Gokey: Added in statement from Google that Project Ara's failed drop test comment was a joke. After much anticipation, Google finally showed Project Ara power on for the first time during January's Project Ara Module Developers Conference During the event, Google revealed it would have used the aforementioned test launch in Puerto Rico to gauge what works and doesn't work with consumers, as well as to improve the hardware using the feedback Google would have received. Project Ara's latest appearance was during May's Google I/, the company's annual developer conference. Unlike during January's event, where Google only showed the phone powering on, Google I/ had the company powering on Project Ara and properly showing off the hot-swappable modules by swapping in the camera module to take a picture of the crowd. Google didn't specify when in 2016 it will launch Project Ara, though those looking to get their modular smartphone fix sooner can take a look at the Fairphone 2 , which plans to take things in a slightly different direction by acting to rid itself of conflict minerals at a realistic pace. Updated on 08-19-2015 by Williams Pelegrin: Added in information of Project Ara's failed drop test and Google making more space for more modules. This is in addition to existing partnerships with Sony and LG, both of which already have Cast-enabled speakers on the market, and are going to update their device lineups in 2016 as well. And then there is of course Chromecast Audio, the $35 adapter that brings internet connectivity to any existing stereo system or loudspeaker with audio input and that Google launched last fall in conjunction with a revamped Chromecast for TV adapter. In the coming months, Google wants to bring multi-room cast functionality to speakers from all of its partners. By getting everyone from Sony to Harman to LG to Bang & Olufsen's B& Play on board, Google may just have decided the race for the cross-platform connected audio standard. Not only are there still some other consumer electronics brands that are sticking to their own multi-room technologies, with Samsung being notably absent in the Google Cast camp. And right now, Google and its partners seem to best positioned to take its place. The good thing is, if there's a need, third-party and aftermarket products will show up to fill the gap. Product delivery-by-drone will be possible within one to three years, Dave Vos , head of Google X's Project Wing, told the Aero Club of Washington, according to CNN The technology should be available in urban areas within that time frame if companies can agree on regulation with the U.S. government and the aviation industry. Google is competing with Amazon to get drones flying packages to consumers, but the two tech titans are also teaming up to make sure drones take off soon. In September, Google and Amazon helped halt a California bill that might have grounded their ambitious drone programs. Those gains would first need favorable federal drone legislation, which is expected in late 2015 or early 2016. The main reason these items sell quickly and have a lower return rate is because they're superior products and solutions: the ones YOU need to purchase and market. Once you're in the 'marketplace' at ClickBank start looking at products that have Good Gravity. You see, when new products come out they often have big promotions and incentives for Affiliates to market the product, but as time passes the Gravity begins to drop. There are many products with a low or medium Gravity that are still great products, but they just haven't marketed their products as well as others have. ClickBank has thousands of products from Arts & Entertainment; Business and Investing; Computers and Internet; Cooking, Food & Wine; E biz and more. That does work, but I would rather go to ClickBank and press a button that instantly shows me Leading Products that are moving up in Gravity and selling fast. Whether you own an EBay business, EBay Store, E-commerce website, or even a blog that sells things; you always want to make sure that you have quality products to offer for your website and to your customers. One way to get guaranteed brand new products is to go to a retail store - either brick & mortar or online and find a product that can in turn give you profit. Simply go to Craigslist or a classified ads resource: Myspace, and EBay have one, and simply search for products that can potentially give you profit on your website or online store. Back in April, Google pulled the plug on Helpouts, its live video chat help and personal consultation platform. In 2013, it also nixed services users loved, such as iGoogle and Google Reader. Here are some alternatives to Google Drive Web hosting, Helpouts, the Quickoffice app, iGoogle and the other Google tools you miss.
If you host any images, files, Web pages or even entire websites on Google Drive's Web hosting service, you have one year to find an alternative provider. Although Google Drive will still be up and running as usual, its Web hosting offering will no longer be available this time next year. Google's own domain service, Google Domains , can help you find third-party Web hosting providers. My msn , Microsoft's take on iGoogle, also does not integrate with Google products, but will do the job if all you need is a content-based home page. By the end of 2013, however, Postini's 26 million users will have to say goodbye to the program forever and make one of two choices: transition to Google Apps — Google's paid, cloud-based productivity suite, which will take over Postini — or migrate to a different provider. Making the decision to switch to Google Apps or an alternative solution — then finally making the move — is never easy. But now is a better time than ever to evaluate your business needs and your satisfaction with Google Apps' offerings, May said. For instance, if Google Apps does not provide the features or level of email security you need, then it makes sense to switch to a different service, she said. On July 2, 2013, Google said farewell to Google Reader, the most popular RSS reader since the Internet age began. As alternatives to Google Reader, the company suggested several apps, such as Feedly , Digg Reader , InoReader , NewsBlur , Flipboard and the Pulse mobile app. Feedly quickly became the top choice amongst former Google Reader users, primarily due to its simple interface, which most resembles the Google Reader of yore. In 2010, Google acquired the editor; two years later, the search giant added Picnik to its growing list of Google Graveyard residents. Physical products can be great, but they're more involved if you're a merchant. Maybe we discover ten thousand people every month type into Google: Improve Golf Swing. For example, if you sell coffee mugs and someone does a search in Froogle for mugs then your products will be listed in the search results. In order to list your products, a product feed (or bulk upload file) must be submitted directly to Google by uploading either a tab delimited or xml file. The file is then processed by Google and within 24 hours your products will be listed. Unlike the Google search engine, the products listed in Froogle are only listed for a few weeks. Froogle provides you with the opportunity to have your company's products indexed and accessible to thousands of buyers looking for products like yours. If you're a seller, it costs nothing to reach shoppers by submitting your items to Google Base. So they'll be found on Google You can link directly from the Google search results to your website; if you don't have a website, Google will host your offers for free within your Google Base account. Fill out the web form for each product you would like to sell and post to Google Product Search. Bulk Upload - Upload a spreadsheet or XML file describing each product and its associated product data using the Google Base Bulk Upload. With the new Google Base data API, you can create specialized applications to handle these actions. But the implication is that Marvell's chips will make it easier for other companies to start building smart home products on Google's new platform. Last year at CES, we saw the first set of products that connect with Apple's HomeKit. SAN FRANCISCO — Google unveiled two new Nexus smartphones running the latest Android mobile operating system and the next generation of its Chromecast streaming device — including an audio device — at a splashy event here on Tuesday as the Internet giant makes a play for the screens and the wallets of consumers. The event kicked off with an appearance from Sundar Pichai, his first presentation since he was named chief executive officer of Google. Google is debuting new products ahead of the holiday shopping season and on the heels of Apple's announcements earlier this month of the latest iPhones, iPad and Apple TV. Google unveiled the Huawei-made Nexus 6P, all-metal-body device with a 5.7-inch display, slightly bigger than the iPhone 6 Plus. Google's goal: To get as much of the world as possible online and using Google services. Google also heated up competition in the living room with the latest version of its video streaming device Chromecast, which features a new flatter, circular design. Google Play Music is rolling out new family plan: $15 a month for up to six family members. Google said Tuesday it has sold 20 million Chromecast dongles, which plug into TVs and access the Internet via Wi-Fi, around the world. Google will offer the world a peek at its future this week during its annual technology conference, Google I/. Though the event is geared towards software developers, Google often uses the conference to unveil big new consumer products—Google Glass got its first public demo at the 2012 conference, and Google's paid music streaming service debuted last year. Google will likely put its operating system for smartwatches and other wearable devices front and center this year. It's expected to incorporate digital assistant software Google Now and accept voice commands, among other features. The development kit for Android Wear hasn't yet been released, so it's likely that programmers will get their first crack at the software during Google I/. Google's also likely to demo the first consumer watches to use the software, such as LG's upcoming G Watch or Motorola's Moto 360. Google doesn't just want Android on your wrist—the company eventually wants its software on virtually every device you interact with — and cars will be one of Google's first targets. Google announced a partnership with automakers such as Honda, General Motors and Audi earlier this year to bring Android software to their vehicles. At last year's Google I/, the company unveiled the unfortunately named Google Play Music All Access, a subscription-based music streaming service similar to Spotify. Since that time, though, Google subsidiary YouTube has quietly been working on its own paid music service. But the project is far enough along now that Google has begun letting its employees test the service Now might be the time to let the broader world take a peek. Google will reportedly use I/ to debut its own health tracking app, called Google Fit. According to Forbes , Google Fit will gather data from various fitness and wellness apps, and it'll be able to link up with other services in the Google ecosystem. Google has been trying to finagle its way into the world of television for a while. Google TV, a platform for smart TVs, failed to gain wide adoption, while its Chromecast streaming stick has been more successful. Though rumors about Android TV have persisted for months, it's not clear how Google would differentiate the product significantly from Chromecast, which already supports a variety of video apps. Glass has been getting a serious push from Google this year, with promotional short films and ads starring tennis star Roger Federer. We know that when you're working in Google Docs, you're often working in Google Sheets and Google Slides at the same time. Google Apps Mobility Management allows admins to enforce policies on managed devices in their organizations via the device management settings page in the Admin console. Please note that this feature will roll out gradually and may not be available to 100% of domains until mid-Q1 2016. When signing up for Google Apps, customers are provided with access to several additional free services, including YouTube, Blogger, Google Analytics, and many more. Admins can turn these services On or Off for their users in the Admin console by looking in Apps > Additional Google services. Starting today, we'll be cleaning up the list of services that are available and removing any services that have been shut down by Google in the last couple of years. Over the years, we've been updating our APIs with new versions across Drive and Calendar, as well as those used for managing Google Apps for Work domains. To deliver even more granular control, today we are announcing the new Calendar Resource API as part of the Admin SDK's Directory API that enables Google for Work customers to manage their physical resources, like conference rooms, printers, nap pods, tennis courts, walkstations, etc. Please note that we will begin deprecation in January 2016 and sunset the existing API in January 2017. Templates allow you to quickly and easily create files with specific purposes—for instance, you can pull together a project proposal in Google Docs, an invoice in Google Sheets, or a case study in Google Slides without spending unnecessary time or resources on formatting. The email routing settings in the Admin console allow Google Apps admins to set up default mail routing options across their domain, or for specific organizational units. Now, the latest version of the Google Calendar app for Android makes it easy for you to see whether your accounts are properly syncing, and quickly fix them if they aren't. Last week, we announced that a recent change has been made to our security policy, whereby OAuth2 tokens issued for access to certain products will now be revoked when a user's password is changed. As a result, and given the approaching holiday season, we have decided to delay the full rollout of this policy change until early 2016. When you store important files in Google Drive they're not only safe, they're accessible from any device. Google for Work already helps admins manage information security with tools such as encryption, sharing controls, mobile device management, and two-factor authentication. Starting today, if you're a Google Apps Unlimited customer, Data Loss Prevention (DLP) for Gmail will add another layer of protection to prevent sensitive information from being revealed to those who shouldn't have it. Check out the DLP whitepaper for more information, including the full list of predefined content creators, and get started Gmail DLP is the first step in a long term investment to bring rule-based security across Google Apps. We're working on bringing DLP to Google Drive early next year, along with other rule-based security systems. In addition to Calendar, you can add and view Reminders from a variety of Google apps: Inbox by Gmail (for any Apps customers in the early adopter program ), Google Keep and Google Now. People can start creating Reminders today with the latest versions of Calendar on Google Play and the App Store And don't worry, we're working on bringing Reminders to the web too. To help Google Apps customers who use Chromebox for meetings devices stay on top of new feature releases and improvements, starting today we'll provide a regular recap of recent and upcoming launches. In an effort to further increase account security for Google Apps users, a recent change has been made to our security policy , whereby OAuth2 tokens issued for access to certain products will now be revoked when a user's password is changed. For example, if a user loses their device, and changes their Google password, their mail and other data will stop syncing to that device when the password is reset. Token revocation itself is not a new feature, as users have always had the ability to revoke access to applications in Security Checkup , and admins have always had this ability in the Google Apps Admin console. Some applications that use the OAuth2 authentication method will stop accessing data upon password reset until a new OAuth2 token has been granted by the user by re-authenticating with their Google account username and password. This includes Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook (GASMO), and applications that use certain Google APIs. In the future, we plan to expand the list of Google products and scopes for which tokens will be revoked upon password change, and will provide more details as they become available. If you have a corporate policy that requires your end users to change their passwords periodically, we recommend letting them know that they will also have to re-authenticate on their mobile devices, or any applications that they may be using to access Google Apps. All password changes, such as an end user changing a password, or an admin changing the password on behalf of the end user―or even using tools such as Google Apps Password Sync or other Directory API client applications―will result in OAuth2 tokens being revoked. The Google Admin mobile app allows Apps super admins to easily manage users and groups, contact support, view audit logs and perform other common administrative tasks all from their mobile devices. Google Drive allows you to upload files, images, and videos so you can work on them anywhere and anytime. Google Apps domains who have deployed the plug-in and enabled automatic updates should see the updated version pushed to their users in the coming days, if they haven't already received it. Update 1/7/2015: This afternoon, at CES, Google finally gave the world the Project Tango update everyone was looking for.
