Lenovo All The News, Reviews From Las Vegas

CES 2016 is in the books, but our coverage will continue as we bring you more hands-on reviews and videos from the show. But after much deliberation and asking you, our readers, to help, we have picked techradar's Editors' Choice CES 2016 awards! Lenovo will use the Moto name on its high-end models, while the entry level and budget phones will use the Vibe brand. Overall, there should be about 15 handsets released by Lenovo this year with each brand getting roughly a 50-50 split (which obviously is impossible with an odd number). Who is going to buy the phones sold by lenovo when there is a phone from motorola for every category you can think of. Moto-made phones will be strictly high-end from now on, with nothing smaller than a 5in screen - hardly great news for anyone that likes the cheap and cheerful Moto E and older, smaller Moto G Lenovo's Vibe range will take over as the budget name, with no more than 15 models planned across both brands. Right now, Motorola's phones have a near-stock Android interface, but Lenovo wants to ditch it by 2017. There's no news on when we'll get to see the new-look Moto, but with Mobile World Congress just a month away, there might not be too long to wait. Modular Phones Forum is an online news magazine/community for mobile users and developers. Samsung announced the Galaxy TabPro S at CES 2016, looking to take on the likes of Microsoft, Lenovo and Apple with a portable device that doubles as a laptop and tablet in one. Samsung also announced two additions to its Notebook 9 series at CES 2016 including a 15-inch and 13.3-inch laptop. The Lenovo Yoga 900S spearheads the company's 2016 line-up with its pencil-thin 12.8mm build that weighs just shy of a kilo. HP announced several laptops at CES 2016 including the Spectre x360 family with lots of exciting features for this year including a 4K display, OLED, Bang & Olufsen audio and a larger 15-inch model. The 15.6-inch model is new for 2016 and comes with a 4K display, 15.9mm slim body and a 9.5-hour battery life. Lenovo is back in the news again, this time for shipping laptops that would reinstall an OEM's bundled software — even if you dropped a fresh copy of Windows on the machine. Xudong also revealed that both Lenovo and Motorola will merge their interfaces into a new UI, which can be expected to be unveiled in 2017. An earlier report suggested that Motorola's fourth-generation smartphone , Moto X (2016), would pack a heat pipe for passive cooling at the back panel, and sport a metal frame design. Lenovo has introduced a bunch of new ThinkPad laptops: the ThinkPad T460s, T460, T560, T460p, ThinkPad 13, X260, L460, and L560. Joining them is the Lenovo MIXX 700 Business Edition and the Lenovo YOGA 900 Business Edition, the ThinkCentre TIO 2 (available in two different sizes), and the ThinkVision X24 Pro Monitor with, among other things, a built-in Intel 3D RealSense camera. Aside from the Chromebook tossed into the mix, Lenovo has also introduced its new ThinkPad Stack Mobile Projector, a 150 lumen 720p DLP projector with support for Airplay and Miracast, a 1 watt speaker, tilt and correction, 2-hour playback battery life, and support with other ThinkPad Stacks. As well, Lenovo also has its' new ThinkPad Charging Station, which is exactly what it sounds like. Be sure to hit up our CES 2016 portal for more CES news, and our Lenovo portal for more laptops and accessories! Like any good teaser, the image released about the announcement does not share any details like whether Lenovo will be producing hardware for Project Tango or using the technology in their own devices. We will keep an eye on things during CES 2016 next week to see what Google and Lenovo have planned relative to Project Tango. At the on-going CES 2016, Lenovo has indicated that it will seek more synergy between its own phones and those branded under Motorola. Typically Motorola smartphones are about more premium experience, pure Android with faster upgrades, while Lenovo has offered over all good user experience but at more affordable prices. However, in the coming year, we could see more of a synergy between the two brands and we might add some of the best features from Motorola to Lenovo phones and vice-versa. For instance, the camera app in Lenovo phones which has been liked a lot could feature in Motorola phones too,” Lenovo's smartphone business VP for Asia Pacific Dillon Ye said in Las Vegas. Ye's remarks come even as Motorola's chief operating officer Rick Osterloh told technology website Cnet that the company could ditch the word Motorola and go with Moto by Lenovo branding. On the Indian smartphone market situation, Ye said Lenovo and Motorola have been seeing steady growth. We also expect that Reliance Jio 4G will be a big disruptor,” said Ye. Lenovo says it will ensure its devices are Reliance Jio compatible as well as compatible with other telecom operators' networks to give users ample choice. The Lenovo VP said the company plans to invest more in the smartphone business in India. On whether Lenovo could eventually manufacturer its own chipset for smartphones like say Samsung or Huawei, Ye said that it would depend on the future strategy adopted by the company. The reporter is in CES 2016, Las Vegas, courtesy of Lenovo India which is paying for accommodation and travel. Chen Xudong, SVP of Lenovo and president for Lenovo China and Asia Pacific made the revelations to a Chinese website , effectively confirming that there would be no Moto E this year and that it will be bringing back a flagship feature first used by Motorola in its pre-Lenovo and even pre-Google days. Last week, Lenovo announced that it is to retire the Motorola brand for mobile products. Lenovo bought the Motorola Mobility name from Google in 2014 with the open aim of trying to improve the company's foothold in Western markets. Today, however, we've seen the next stage of this with the news that, having cemented its place in the market with some solid products over the past few years, Lenovo will now step into the limelight. The Moto range is characterised by its almost completely 'vanilla' Android interface, which makes it very popular with purists and lends itself to timely updates to the OS. What we might see, however, is an extension to the rather slick Windows 8/10 phone companion app from Lenovo that allows screen mirroring and pop-up notifications. Lenovo intended originally to keep the Motorola name separate, but although the company has had critical acclaim it is still not as profitable as it should be, and the company appears to have opted for a conjoined brand to exploit Lenovo's PC credentials. There was a new range of PC and laptop accessories, along with a couple of tablets and a push on gaming in 2016. Here is a quick roundup of all the products that Lenovo has unveiled across multiple categories. Lenovo announced a number of new laptops at CES 2016, essentially covering every price category. While the Thinkpad X1 Carbon was updated to the newest Intel processor, the other eight laptops were additions to the current range of laptops that Lenovo has on offer. Lenovo announced the following new ThinkPad laptops — ThinkPad X1 Yoga, ThinkPad E560 with 3D Camera, ThinkPad T460s, ThinkPad T460/T560, ThinkPad T460p, ThinkPad 13, ThinkPad X260, and ThinkPad L460/560. If you remember the Ideacentre Y900 Lenovo launched earlier at IFA 2015, you will be able to see the similarities here. It is actually the most powerful gaming PC that Lenovo makes, and is the second laptop in the market to offer a mechanical keyboard after the MSI GT80 Titan. Intel Core i7K processor, and will come with upto 8GB of NVIDIA GTX 980M graphics, 64GB DDR4 RAM, upto 512GB SSD PCIe RAID0, upto 1TB HDD SATA 3. Lenovo even claims 5 hours of battery life on this beast. Lenovo has employed Nvidia's G-Sync technology on the monitor, and it touches a refresh rate of 144Hz. Lenovo also announced a Razer edition of the same monitor, namely the Lenovo Y27g RE Curved Gaming Monitor. Besides these, Lenovo also announced the Lenovo Y Gaming Stereo Headset, Lenovo Y Gaming Armored Backpack, and the Lenovo Y Gaming Optical Mouse. Lenovo unveiled three new desktops at CES — ThinkCentre X1, ThinkCentre Tiny-in-One II and the Ideacentre 610S. However, Lenovo wants to change that by offering a consumer-ready version for under $500. During a quick announcement at CES Lenovo took the stage to confirm it has a bold plan that will take Google's experiment and turn it into a feature, deliver games, and more to mobile phones. The Lenovo Project Tango smartphone will be between 6 and 6.5-inches in size, cost under $500, be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and be released in the summer of 2016. In fact, Lenovo said it will absolutely be released this summer, and absolutely be less than $500.” That said, no actual products were shown off at the event. Perhaps the best news aside from the phone, is a new Project Tango App Incubator. This news comes after conflicting reports broke last week that claimed Lenovo was phasing out the Motorola name In the end, the company itself clarified the issue as to say there will be no more products specifically branded as Motorola”, rather all devices released will continue to use the Moto” branding as has been the case for years now. Along with all this news however, it was also reiterated that the Moto brand itself will be used for higher-end smartphones, with Lenovo's own Vibe brand serving to encompass lower-end, budget” devices. Given that Lenovo's own Vibe brand will handle the lower-end segment of the market, it it highly unlikely there will be another Moto E It's highly possible that even the Moto G itself will be discontinued, and the default entry” level Moto line in 2016 will be something more akin to what the Moto X Play was last year. The problem however, at least in theory, is that Motorola has brand recognition in countries like the USA, yet Lenovo on the other hand - as a smartphone OEM - does not. If Lenovo does indeed seek to release a similar product but with Vibe branding, it is likely to be overlooked simply out of sheer unfamiliarity. Indeed the leaked image (above) which appeared last month and claimed to be the Moto X (2016) may offer a good idea what kind of changes are in store, provided the picture was genuine. Lenovo has a very unique take on the Android UI, for example doing away with the app launcher drawer entirely. It would not be unthinkable to imagine Lenovo simply placing Moto Actions on its Vibe devices, though in light of the lower-spec sentiment, this would seemingly be difficult. As news of Lenovo's changes to the Motorola brand continue to stream out, week by week it's possible to get a better understanding at what the year to come may ultimately offer up. The question will become just how much - or how little - Lenovo ultimately modifies the formula which had been established during the company's tenure as a Google owned entity. Hopefully the Nexus team and their manufacturing partners will come back with something more suitably budget (in line with the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5) in 2016 or 2017. Info for those cave-dwellers in the west: Here are the Lenovo models that are equipped with fingerprint sensor: Vibe P1, Vibe X3, K4 Note and ZUK Z1. I finally convinced myself to try with The 3rd iteration of the moto x and I'm pretty happy with it. Still there is some work to be done, I hope therefore lenovo is going to start from there and not changing what's good already. However, we have a confirmed report stating Lenovo K4 Note will come equipped with 4GB RAM, not 3GB. Lenovo is expected to unveil the device during CES 2016 and will be making it available in India right away. Lenovo doesn't usually advertise the specifications before the official release. The Lenovo K3 Note had a 5.5 inch Full HD display with a pixel density of 401ppi and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We expect Android M in the upcoming Lenovo K4 Note with upgraded version of Vibe UI. As mentioned above, Lenovo K4 Note will have 32GB storage capacity that will be expandable up to 200GB. Our source also confirms that Lenovo K4 Note will be sold a bit costlier than Lenovo K3 Note and is priced somewhere near to the K3 Note Music edition i.e. Rs 12,999. There's even an active stylus if you're interested in sketching. Chen Xudong, SVP of Lenovo and president for Lenovo China and Asia Pacific, has revealed that all Moto-branded handsets launching this year will have fingerprint sensors. That's a 180-degree change from the Lenovo subsidiary's recent antics, and it will surely be welcomed by the brand's fans. The Lenovo exec has shared an additional detail about the Moto portfolio for 2016: there will be no more phones launching with screens smaller than 5 inches. In total, between the two brands, no more than 15 models will be launched in 2016. The ideacentre Y900 RE desktop starts at US$2.299 and will be available starting in June 2016 while the Lenovo Y27g Curved Gaming Monitor starts at US$549.99 and will be available starting in June 2016. LG's event is scheduled to happen at 11a EST on January 5, but the South Korean company has already introduced a new mid-range smartphone series at CES 2016. It also comes with an audio out jack to plug your headphones in, and it seems that Lenovo was nice enough to include a hanger for your headphones as well. It is priced at $549 and is expected to be available for purchase come June 2016. I have lenovo laptop and when talked to them, I gave up it's that bad... moto lenovo slightly better but terrible and will get worse. Lenovo says that the new ThinkCentre TIO II will be compatible with second and third generation models of the ThinkCentre Tiny, Chrombox Tiny , and ThinClients. Pricing information is not yet available, but Lenovo said that the ThinkCentre TIO II will begin shipping in April. That's still a sizeable number, so Lenovo should be able to cater for most tastes. In 2016, Lenovo is splitting the Thinkpad X1 into two products: the traditional X1 Carbon with some modest tweaking to make it even better; and the new X1 Yoga, which is virtually identical but features a hinge that allows it to fold back 180 degrees so it can be used as a kind of tablet, like other Lenovo Yoga devices. Lenovo is already taking orders for three configurations of the X1 Yoga on its website , starting at $1,439 and shooting up to $1,799 for a bigger this and faster that. I've been waiting for the 2016 Thinkpad X1 and I couldn't be more excited by the X1 Yoga. And Lenovo is not the only manufacturer trying to make laptops that are no thicker than a sheet of cardboard - the Samsung Notebook 9 and refreshed HP Spectre x360 will also be absurdly thin and light when they're released. Bruceb News provides daily computer tips, shopping suggestions, support information, security updates, and much more - written in plain English. The Moto X variants are higher-end phones and considering that Lenovo wants Moto brand to be associated with the high-end phones, the Moto X too is safe. YOGA 900S is the world's thinnest (12.8mm) convertible laptop, according to Lenovo.

It has a small screen of 4.5-inch and is an entry-level smartphone, a space that Lenovo (and Motorola) want to be occupied by Vibe phones. Lenovo upped the ante at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas by announcing a slew of products from a multi-functional ThinkPad X1 Tablet with a built in projector and 3D camera to a the new Ideacentre 610S, a regular PC with a full-scale projector. While Lenovo has been focussing on the smartphone segment in India and other geographies, its PC business still accounts for 69 per cent of the company's $46 billion revenue making it the segment leader globally. Lenovo launched a full scale gaming laptop developed with Razer called Lenovo Ideapad Y 900 in Las Vegas. On Lenovo and its new acquisition Motorola competing in the same smartphone market, Agarwal said for now the two would continue to function as they were as they are targeting different budget points. The writer is in Las Vegas on the invitation of Lenovo India, which is paying for travel and accommodation. The 2016 refresh is still has a 14-inch screen with available resolutions of either 1080p Full HD or 2560x1440 QHD display. And with Lenovo WriteIT on board, you can use it to write inside virtually any app on your machine. LAS VEGAS, NV - January 3, 2016 - Lenovo (HKSE:992) today unveiled its newly expanded and highly innovative X1 portfolio. Motorola chief operating officer Rick Osterloh told Cnet that flagship products like the Moto X will keep Motorola's ‘M' logo, but will also feature the blue Lenovo badge. In November, Lenovo was forced to deny reports that it planned to ditch the Vibe range of handsets in favour, but Osterloh said it will maintain Vibe, rebranding the low-end Motorola handsets under this name. On Wednesday, Lenovo and Qualcomm Technologies announced their partnership with Google to bring project Tango to a consumer phone. Qualcomm will provide its Snapdragon processor and will be working closely with Lenovo and Google to optimize combination of hardware and software for bringing the best of Tango platform. Lenovo and Google expect to enter AR market first by preparing a new smartphone with the technology. Good news is that with rising competition among computer manufacturing companies, these PC devices are being added with latest technology and features. LAS VEGAS-Being a supercomputer armed with cognitive learning powers, IBM Watson has plans to grow more powerful and maybe even omnipresent in 2016. The move is intended to unify the company's smartphone lineup under a single Lenovo umbrella. While Lenovo's about-face might not be shocking news in and of itself, it does mark an unceremonious end to a brand that had been synonymous with advanced phone technologies and products for decades. The Lenovo Link lets you connect your Android device to a big-screen Windows laptop and watch video content stored on the smartphone directly on the computer. To make it work, you'll have to install a Lenovo Link app on your Lollipop or Marshmallow device, and connect both the Android smartphone or tablet and the Windows PC with the help of the Link. Reportedly, Lenovo is going to gradually remove from the product the brand and focus on the Motorola brand Moto. Recall, Lenovo completed the acquisition of a division of Motorola Mobility from Google in October last year. The transaction value was approximately $ 2,91 billion, including cash on 660 million dollars and newly issued shares of Lenovo for a total amount of 750 million dollars. Google 's much-awaited Project Tango will finally hit stores as a $500 Lenovo smartphone, the two companies announced at the CES in 2016 in Las Vegas. Now, Lenovo has officially joined the Project Tango party and promised a launch by summer of 2016. Lenovo says it has not yet fixed a form factor for the phone but it could be between 6 to 6.5-inches in screen size. Chen Xudong, senior vice president and president, Mobile Business Group at Lenovo says the project will help break down silos across mobile hardware and software, creating a more holistic product experience that captures the imagination of today's consumer. Google and Lenovo have also launched an app incubator program to help more developers build apps for Project Tango. The author is attending CES 2016 at the invitation of Lenovo India, which is paying for travel and accommodation. Lenovo hasn't quoted life without the extra unit, but based on the size of the each, we estimate that opting for the standard battery alone with reduce life by about a third. With the T460p, Lenovo claims a 1.7x performance advantage over U-series CPUs, as well as a 12-hour battery life, and a swappable battery. IO-wise, it presents all the ports you'd need as an early 2016 businessperson, including three USB 3.0 ports, RJ45 Ethernet, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, and a 4-in-1 card reader. The Lenovo ThinkPad 13 with Windows 10 will go on sale for $449 beginning in April. Google and Lenovo today also launched a Project Tango incubator, inviting developers to submit game and app ideas based on the 3D-scanning technology. At this year's CES, Lenovo announced the development of the first Project Tango phone intended for consumers. All we know is that Lenovo is going to release a phone that is going to cost less than $500. The only remaining question is whether Lenovo is an exclusive partner or if Google is going to announce more phones with other OEMs in the coming months. Our first products together are the ultra-premium Razer Editions of the ideacentre Y900 RE and Lenovo Y27g RE Curved Gaming Monitor. I'm a blogger and video blogger that highlights daily news in the tech industry, promoting tips and tricks for fellow techies and provides information on tech related topics. We are leveraging a converging of a courtesy since some players are withdrawal — we take their share,” he told reporters during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016. To expostulate a modernise cycle, Lenovo will concentration on creation PCs some-more productive, and that means regulating a cloud to support them. Last year, Lenovo found themselves in a large volume of prohibited H2O over a preloading of Superfish adware on a consumer line of laptops. Earlier on Thursday during CES, Lenovo COO Rick Osterloh suggested that a association would be phasing out a Motorola code name in foster of a Moto by Lenovo moniker. According to Dillon Ye, Lenovo Asia-Pacific Mobile Business clamp president, a change will concede Lenovo to pierce a code name into reward smartphones, where before it had focused on a reduce finish of a marketplace and in building nations. Lenovo and Moto will work on user interface (UI) re-engineering to introduce a brand new UI next year. He did not describe what exactly the two companies plan to offer, rather just indicated Lenovo is likely to launch fewer devices in 2016. The decision is likely a play to use the Moto lineup, which is popular with Android enthusiasts, to get people more acquainted with the Lenovo brand. While Lenovo is the world's largest PC maker, it isn't front of mind for phones and other mobile products. Osterloh and his business group will soon take over all mobile operations at Lenovo. In markets where the Lenovo name is strong, the company intends to introduce the Moto line as an upscale product. It is based on Intel's Core m7 processors from the latest Skylake generation, and is claimed by Lenovo as the first Windows tablet to offer LTE Advanced support for even faster 4G wireless connectivity. Many professionals will already be familiar with the ThinkPad X1 Carbon ultrabook (below) with its carbon fibre chassis, and Lenovo has updated the laptop, claiming it as thinner, lighter and more powerful than ever, weighing about 1.2kg and measuring about 16mm thick. Meanwhile, the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (below) is claimed by Lenovo as the first convertible laptop/tablet to feature an OLED display as an option, providing richer colours and deeper blacks than standard displays. Wie bereits in den vergangenen Jahren nutzt Lenovo auch heuer die CES in Las Vegas für ein Feuerwerk an neuen Produkten. The phone is 3G enabled opening up a world of multimedia and informational services from the mobile internet, users can gain access to the latest news and sports headlines, new movie trailers and pre release music videos as well as download new mobile content such as games, ringtones, music tracks, wallpapers and themes. Lenovo was never going to keep every line made by both companies, but the fact that they're killing the best selling Motorola phone in history (the Moto G), is a bit surprising. Expect to see a couple Lenovo Vibe branded phones take over the place in the market that the Moto E and Moto G currently hold. Lenovo will also make it a priority that all their phones have larger than 5 inch screen. This might be old news for some of you, but bear with me. There are three principle interfaces and two vendor families. HP and Lenovo only sell desktop models with integrated graphics chips, at least of the models that I examined. With this announcement, Lenovo has confirmed that it will be the first to bring Project Tango to consumer smartphones later in 2016. This could be really big — and might turn out to be the hottest announcement out of CES 2016. A big part of why Lenovo and Google are aiming to release a consumer device, the companies say, is that it's time for developers to really get their hands on it and build more stuff that takes new and novel use of the Project Tango sensor system. The monitor's backlighting seems subtle enough not to distract from gaming, and a Lenovo rep mentioned that you'll be able to program the display's lighting much as you can with the Y900 Razer Edition desktop, as well as Razer's Chroma keyboards and mice. To help you round out your collection of gaming gear, Lenovo is launching new takes on its Y-series mouse and headset in May. The Chinese handset maker teased a new Killer Note” smartphone that should make its debut in India as early as January 2016. Although Lenovo did not really name the phone K4 Note as the next smartphone to be launched in India, a new report coming from GizChina claims this is likely to be the phablet the company plans to introduce next month. There are no details on Lenovo K4 Note's specs yet, but speculations claim the phablet should pack a powerful enough MediaTek Helio X10 chipset inside. That could be Lenovo K4 Note's main selling point, aside from the affordable price (hopefully). Apart from the Helio X10 chipset, Lenovo K4 Note should also pack a fingerprint sensor, which is something that its predecessor, K3 Note was missing. Design-wise, the upcoming Killer Note” device coming from Lenovo should feature a brushed metal frame, which should put it in the premium category. Again, this is another feature that Lenovo K3 Note was missing, so by offering a device made from a higher quality material, the Chinese company hopes to sell even more mid-range phablets next year. Even though the smartphone will be initially launched in India, there's no doubt that Lenovo will make the K4 Note available to other countries.
